ROCKHILL ORTHOPAEDICS
Hand and Upper Extremity Center
The Hand and Upper Extremity Center is a center of excellence in the Midwest for the
diagnosis and treatment of problems involving the entire upper extremity. To assist
them with these problems, our physicians have many specialized resources
readily available including physicians trained in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
and Rheumatology, hand therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists,
and nursing specialists. Many of our patients are referred by other physicians for our
expertise.
Some of the common reasons for referral are:
- Arthritis of the Hand, Wrist, Elbow, or Shoulder
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Congenital Problems
- Contractures
- Fractures or Dislocations
- Injuries - Sports, Home, or Work-Related
- Lacerations
- Masses or Growths
- Nerve or Tendon Problems
- Numbness, Weakness or Tingling
- Pain in the Hand, Wrist, Arm, or Shoulder
- Rotator Cuff Injuries
As a special adjunct to the general orthopaedic care available at Rockhill Orthopaedics, three orthopaedic surgeons have special interest in the treatment of the upper extremity. The importance of the upper extremity in daily functions becomes readily apparent when one develops a problem in this area. These problems can be both functionally limiting and painful. Although many of these problems can be treated without surgery others may require complicated decision making and intricate, sophisticated surgery. The surgeons at Rockhill Orthopaedics are specially trained to treat these problems. Dr. Rosenthal has completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship in addition to general orthopaedic surgery residency. Dr. Frevert has acquired extensive experience in treating shoulder problems since devoting extra study to this area with the team physicians from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Dugan has combined clinical practice with specialized courses in the upper extremity. These doctors are leaders in ther field and stay abreast of the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment. With this knowledge base and background, you can be assured that your problems will be treated with the most advanced and effective methods available.
