  • Radiological studies:

    • Plain films
      • will not be positive until earliest 6 weeks but usually 3 months
      • nonspecific findings can mimic thyrotoxicosis or hyperparathyroidism changes
    • Triple phase bone scan
      • earlier diagnosis
      • can be helpful in asensate CVA patients with dependent edema or loss of ROM
      • variable sensitivity and specificity in literature which is felt due to varying clinical criteria and stage of disease in which study was performed
