Radiological studies:
- Plain films
- will not be positive until earliest 6 weeks but usually 3 months
- nonspecific findings can mimic thyrotoxicosis or hyperparathyroidism changes
- Triple phase bone scan
- earlier diagnosis
- can be helpful in asensate CVA patients with dependent edema or loss of ROM
- variable sensitivity and specificity in literature which is felt due to varying clinical criteria and stage of disease in which study was performed
